Less than a week ago I was sat in the stalls at The Barbican watching 'The Tempest', humming along to the score and enjoying a great press night. If only I knew...
Yesterday at about 10am I received a phone call asking me to understudy the off-stage vocal parts for that evening's performance as one of the singers had gone off ill. I then spent all day learning all the parts (which as it's Paul Englishby and rather operatic in places was not easy!), quickly ran my songs with the other singer and the band and then by 7:15pm was singing the opening number of Act 1 - to say that I was nervous is an understatement! It was amazing; singing with my Dad conducting me and doing so in an RSC's production is a real dream-come true...and tonight I get to do it again!!!
