Last night was the press night for The RSC's 'The Tempest' at The Barbican and my dad (Steve Owens) is the Musical Director! It's great having him in town (don't tell him I told you...). So far, he's managed to wangle me into the rehearsal room where I got to watch them run Act 5 (which coincidentally has my favourite song in it - Where the bee sucks) and not embarrass me as much as I thought he would in front of the rest of the cast (including Simon Russell Beale), got me into the band room to listen to the sitzprobe, and got me and mum tickets to the press night and after party at The Barbican! The show was incredible; the cast are fabulous, all the effects are stunning and the music is gorgeous (and very in time - good baton waving Dad).
Super proud daughter moment!
