On Friday I lead the Acting workshop for Imperium Management for their recruitment day for new children to be put onto their books. It was a huge success, with over 60 children trying out with ages ranging from 5 - 19 years of age. I wish them all lots of luck in the future with all of their careers, there really was a huge array of talent in the room!

Poppies has been a fantastic show; we had some great feedback and I have loved playing Eliza with this wonderful cast, hopefully the cast recording is soon to follow so keep your eyes peeled! I workshopped this great piece of new writing 'Dying Out Loud' by David Fielding, directed by Suzann McLean at Theatre Royal Stratford East. It was an intense week, I learnt loads from and I'm really excited to see where this project goes.
Being back in 'The Den' has yet again been amazing. Coming back to play Ash has been great, and getting to do the full version with all it's MANY twists and turns has been an experience I will never forget. I've loved every minute of it and the feedback from our audiences has been astounding, I just hope I get to do it again soon!
So The Whale in the Bathtub is over (for now) and it's been a blast! Charlie Bannock's short 30 minute play has managed to charm audiences young and old and has really been a pleasure to be a part of. I'm going to be miss you Fred!! "Hi, my name is Adam I am 7 years old. I came to the show I thought that it was EPIC! I especially loved the balloons and the bubbles."
Adam - audience member. The first week of performances are complete and we are having so much fun!!! The feedback has been tremendous, particularly from our younger audience members and Fred the Whale is having a blast meeting all these new people!
This is the end of our 3 week run of Lazarus Theatre Company's all-female production of Henry V at The Union Theatre where I've been playing Pistol. We've had lots of fun, and although it's been rather warm in our boiler suits we've received some great feedback and I've loved being a part of this band of bitches! “Do not prejudge. Nothing should deter you from experiencing the undeniable strength and vitality of this innovative Henry V… It is a production that makes you think. It is a production that will haunt you long after leaving the under-arch darkness of the Union Theatre.”
Kevin Quarmby, Big Q Reviews “Slickly reimagined Henry V, the band of brothers are all kickass, boiler-suited, barefoot sisters" Terri Paddock, My Theatre Mates A week ago I was involved with an evening workshop of new play 'The Whale in the Bathtub' which is set to have it's professional debut at The Camden Fringe this year. It was a fun, crazy evening spent making puppet whales out of recycling, learning songs and getting this joyful script up on it's feet. The video below shows what we got up to that night and keep your eyes peeled for further info regarding performances at The Camden Fringe. Although 'The Den' seems like such a long time ago now the 'making of' video has just been published so thought it was the perfect opportunity to post about the amazing project that I got involved with for 2 very cold weeks in November! 'The Den' is a piece set in the future, in a world where laws have been put into place restricting where children are allowed to be born. The piece is centred around this Den which the illegal children have created and the only thing you really need to know about the Den is that no adults are allowed in the den and no adults leave the den. The R&D phase of this new play allowed us to completely explore the world of 'The Den', particularly getting to grips with the language spoken by the Den members (Doodan, techno, and slice; just a couple of examples) and the physical side of living in the wilderness (yes...there was a parkour boot camp, and I survived!) Please check out the below video, where our director/writer Gbemisola Ikumelo talks more eloquently about 'The Den' than I have! 'Macbeth' is over, I've had an absolute ball playing Ross and enjoyed every minute of my first job outside of Mountview. We've had some really great feedback over the past three nights and it's been a pleasure to be a part of Tigz Theatre. Below is a picture of the cast to wet your appetite, taken by Jemma Bannocks, and there will be more production shots to follow in the gallery section!
As the saying goes though, once one door closes another one opens, and today marked my first day in rehearsals for 'The Den' with Faith Drama Productions. I can already tell that this is going to be a very special piece; it's a Research and Development project for a site-specific play written and directed by Gbemisola Ikumelo and has already seen it's actors running around East London linked up for an afternoon! You can find out more about the production by visiting www.faithdrama.org.uk. |
